I saw a reblog with that tag so I’ll just post the answer here. Do note that this is just what I’ve read from the Japanese blogs I found and very few had made long commentary about it. It seemed a bunch of the ones I came across were ready to forget about it. 

Yahoo Japan has this Q&A section and the last time I saw somebody mention the big scandal there (just last year), the fans rallied with a common theme to their comments, “Why do you want to bring this back?” And that’s usually where the conversation stops.

Anyway, going back to how the scandal was handled. Maou was already being filmed but the promotions haven’t truly exploded yet, just a few announcements that Ohno would have his first lead and that it would be co-starred with Toma. 

And then the scandal exploded. During that period, there was total silence from Arashi and Ohno and J-Storm. Nobody had any official source to quote from Johnny’s. Until 3-4 days later (definitely less than a week), there was total media blackout regarding the scandal and the news that came out was that Johnny’s was withdrawing from doing further business with Kodansha.

A part of me thinks the reason why no one wants to see a truly pissed off Ohno is because he’s very capable of walking away and ignoring the bullshit for the rest of his life. He obviously has a high tolerance for being teased and is widely acceptable and lenient of everyone around him. Though I’m curious to see what’ll happen when somebody crosses a line with Ohno, I don’t want to see that happen at all.

Sho once mentioned that he worries when Ohno is left on his own and when something displeases him. Because rather than talk, Ohno would keep to himself and handle it. Matsuoka echoed this in SCP, though he didn’t mention anything about a displeased Ohno, just that Ohno would handle everything on his own when there’s a problem. 

Reminds me of Jun’s comment, too, during the Arashi Challenge Week. He said the general attitude of Arashi when it comes to Ohno is to protect him. And I doubt Jun intended it as something like Ohno is weak and needs protecting. It’d be more along the lines of they don’t want to give Ohno reason to walk away.
